On-Demand Publishing and Printing

Document Assembly and Page Imposition Features

Canon imageWARE Publishing Manager allows end users to easily merge different types of document types—such as Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint or even scanned images—to form one seamless document. It has never been easier to produce business publications, such as manuals, reports, and catalogs. Once imported, the pages of the native imageWARE document created by Publishing Manager can be re-ordered and edited without difficulty. Documents that were previously treated individually and manually combined are now collectively represented as one document that can be printed or distributed in PDF.

Page Layout Features

imageWARE Publishing Manager allows users to add, delete, copy, cut, or paste chapters or pages, as well as move them within a document simplify by using drag and drop functionality. In addition, users can add headers and footers, watermarks, and text and image objects to create professional quality output without specialized technical skills. Users can insert alphanumeric page numbering and stamping, which saves time and money by eliminating the manual tasks usually involved with seamlessly numbering pages from different document types.

Variable Data Printing Features

imageWARE Publishing Manager features a Variable Printing Editor that allows the user to set up variable fields—either text or graphics—on any page of a document. The variable fields are linked continuously to a database or spreadsheet, allowing customized data to be printed on any specified number of pages. Publishing Manager supports the industry’s most popular database formats, making it easy to enhance corporate branding and customer relationship initiatives through customized direct marketing efforts.

On-Demand Printing Features

For professional quality output, imageWARE Publishing Manager includes tightly integrated printing features that provide a complete on-demand printing solution when paired with a compatible Canon imageRUNNER device. Publishing Manager allows users to assign detailed printing and finishing settings to their documents. Depending on the imageRUNNER device to which the user is connected, Publishing Manager supports simplex, duplex, or booklet mode, stapling and subset stapling by chapter, as well as hole-punching, Z-folding, saddle-stitching, and trimming capabilities. Users can also add chapter breaks, tab paper inserts, and front and back covers. Publishing Manager’s preview functionality incorporates print settings into layout view, so that users can see exactly how their documents will print with the applied settings. All of these settings can be saved with the document and stored in the imageWARE Document Manager database so that future reprints can be executed on-demand, from virtually anywhere at anytime.

Web-based Job Submission Features

imageWARE Document Composer provides Web-based job submission to remote or centralized print engines that are located in a print shop or central reprographics department so that the right finishing features and paper source selections are always available. imageWARE Document Composer delivers powerful page and chapter editing, document management, and job management capabilities that are typically offered by more expensive solutions. Users can move, renumber, and delete pages and chapters. Robust database storage using MSDE or Microsoft SQL Server is available using the imageWARE Document Manager back-end for archival and retrieval requirements for printing on-demand. A job ticket or template can be assigned to each job, and saved to create a native imageWARE Document (Canon proprietary PDF) in a selected location in the imageWARE Document Manager
